Boston College Football Recruiting: Eagles Land 2018 DB Elijah Jones

Boston College Football 2017 Match Preview Prediction and Players: Shelmire a 3* offensive guard from Highland Park, Texas is a fascinating recruit for the Eagles. He held offers from North Texas, Army, Navy, Colorado State and SMU. Don’t know if it is related or not, but Boston College offensive line coach Justin Frye was recently at a Baylor camp. In a state flush with talent, Shelmire was on a talented team and was named the first team all state at his position.

The 6’3 285 pounder is the Eagles first recruit from the state of Texas and the second offensive lineman in the Class of 2018 joining 4* offensive lineman Finn Dirstine. Although he doesn’t have any major school offers, this commitment seems like a slam dunk for the Eagles. Boston College has quite a few lineman graduating in the next two years with starters Chris Lindstrom, Jon Baker, and Aaron Monteiro all graduating. Grabbing any sort of quality depth at this position is crucial for future success of the program.

Maitre had camped with Boston College recently, and according to reports did really well and caught the attention of the Boston College coaches. The Everett High School (MA) product currently does not have a rating and holds offers from the University of Rhode Island and Bryant. According to his HUDL profile, he is 5’9 and 155 lbs. Jason Maitre certainly fits the type of recruit BC wants to grab out of their camps. He is local and has some of the qualities that Addazio is looking for, given his size and position I have to imagine that is speed. No word on what position BC has recruited him for, but again given his size, it probably will be a slot receiver. Maitre is the 4th recruit from Massachusetts. You can check out his HUDL film and highlights below. Welcome to the Heights Jason!

That would be Tyler Vrabel, a 3* offensive lineman out of Houston Texas (St. Pious X) and the son of Patriots’ linebacker and current Houston Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel. This is a very interesting get, Vrabel used to work with Urban Meyer at Ohio State, and of course Meyer and Addazio have a great relationship, so you have to wonder if that factored in at all. Vrabel a 6’2 255lb offensive tackle, had offers from Houston, Cincinnati, Memphis, Ohio, and Toledo. He received his offer from Boston College back on June 11th and camped at BC at some point according to a picture he posted with the offer. He is the second offensive lineman taken out of the state of Texas in the past week.
